Idée Fixe by Marje Len Murusalu
30th October - 20th December 2009
The exhibition “Idée Fixe” in the Helleman Tower Gallery in Tallinn is open until December 20th, 2009.
"The environment where people are raised has a similar impact to an individual as the genetic code. People are closely tied to their surroundings. Our society tends to raise people with an assumption that ambition, money and career are regarded as an advantage, rather than a vice. The immediate environment with its countless information channels – be it governments, businesses, media or fellow citizens – bear a significant impact to personality."
Marje Len Murusalu
„Idée Fixe” analyzes the restructuring of a habitual environment. Not only for the purpose of recreating it, but due to inability to cope with an it due to a different cultural and social background.
From October 30th to November 1st the exhibition also featured a sound collage „Vicious Ambitions”, which consists of 5 video screens and was first on display in London Shoreditch Town Hall on the first exhibition of the international artists group STATE:.
